Help Needed - Rod & Reel Advice (Spinning)

Hi there,

I'm looking for some rod and reel advice and I hope someone can help. I'll start by saying I know very little about fishing but I'm looking to buy my Dad a new rod and reel (as a surprise gift). Here is what I'm looking for advice and recommendations on:-

(1) A Daiwa spinning rod for trout and salmon fishing in the UK (worm/lure fishing on small-medium sized rivers).
(2) A Shimano spinning reel that has the capacity to hold around 200yds of 18lb line.

I have a budget of £300. If anyone could recommend a Daiwa rod and Shimano reel combo fitting my budget and requirements that would be greatly appreciated.
