| Need help fishing a tidal estuary/ river Ok guys I just found a sweet little river but it has many complications for one, they put up a dam on it a couple of years ago which caused it to turn to from a freshwater river to a tidal estuary. The water is now brackish. In this river there are carp, catfish, striped bass, large and small mouth bass, perch, and sunfish. I have also heard of bluefish and weakfish being spotted. Last year I was fishing for sunnies and I caught a blue claw crab ! its insane. I have no clue how to fish this place. I am going to try and describe my location and see if anyone has any idea what baits to use and where to fish. Ok facing west, towards the dam that is about 5-6 miles up river there is a bridge. Then about 100 yards down from that the river forks. The one fork is less wide and smaller it sort of branches off. THe main part of the river turns south and becomes very wide with a basin. I was thinking either fish right where it forks or in the basin. I also figured out that I must fish when the tide is coming in because otherwise there will be no fish. I am so confused and really need help on this. Thanks guys. p.s I will try and make a map in paint shop so you can see what I am talking about. |
