| Re: Stick fishing rod Hi Steve, A friend of mine swears by his < Drennan Match Pro > although it is a 13ft rod. The rod comes in 13 & 14ft versions and handles lines of up to 6lb down to hookengths of 1lb. I use my Drennan MKIV Tench float rod for trotting a stick for Barbel & Chub on streams and small rivers which is also 13ft and takes lines (Mono or braid) between 3lb up to 8lb. Both of these rods have fine responsive tip sections for picking up line on the strike without being harsh and are very light. I don't think a spliced tip is so important for a stick float rod nowerdays as technology has moved on quite a bit and rods with tip actions suitable for picking up line at any distance when trotting a stick float while still retaining a nice action for playing a fish at closer ranges on finer lines is not that uncommon these days. __________________ My Web Site (The Average Coarse Angler) Happiness is Fish Shaped (It used to be woman shaped but the wifes getting on a bit now) |
