| goodbye carp fishing!! have eventually came to the decision to quit carp fishing, shame to have to but its disappointing when you catch a lovely fish and many carp fisherman can only criticize! I have caught 2 lovely river carp this year a 31 common and a 25 common and have only had negative comments like "its not a river carp its an escaped stocky" or " that wasn't caught from the river"!! its a shame that some carp fisherman get jealous and im not just saying carp fisherman in general its just some, and have never had a negative comment from a predator fisherman! Im ready for the winter for the preds! The upside to this forum is i have never had a negative comment on any fish so this is clearly where the real fisherman are. I signed up to two carp fishing forums and their are soo many d*ckheads its unreal! And its not only the people its the prices of gear and baits, after having my gear stolen recently i have bought 2 new TF gear lite speed 2.5lb test curve rods which technically speaking are carp rods but will be my new predator rods. If anyone knows of any quality lakes holding cats, zeds, pike and perch please let me know! ![]() Jords |

| Re: goodbye carp fishing!! Hiya Jords, Its a shame about the jealous remarks on the carp forums. It would be a bigger shame if you gave up carp fishing. Getting a 31 and a 25 out of a river obviously means you have a talent for it. Just do what makes you happy. If it was me in your shoes i'd probely go for the preds but build back up my carp gear slowley in the background. I think thats what all fisherman do anyway, you can never have enough tackle can you. I'd also hit the car boots, some people just don't know what they've got. ![]() __________________ I don't care who you are, your not walking on water while i'm fishing. | Re: goodbye carp fishing!! Here here i second that other people can say what they like but the most important thing is YOUR ENJOYMENT,i don't give two hoots what anyone else says (apart from er indoors) I am sorry to hear that you had your tackle stolen unfortunately these parasites seem to be everywhere and as for the negative comments on the forum you use just dump them after all they are the losers as they wont be getting any info from you on where you caught those cracking fish,i fished for carp in this country for 15years and my biggest was a 14lb8oz common and the thought of it and sheer excitment it gave me at the time still gives me a buzz 30 years on So come on chap chin up get back out there and catch some more and post your reports on here,i am sure we would all love to read them tight lines and good luck SIMPLE |

| Re: goodbye carp fishing!! Hi Jords, That’s the problem with some Carp sites, as well as the few really good anglers on them they are often full of nerds who either think that because the fish they have chosen to target grow larger than most other fish then fishing for Carp must make them slightly superior to other anglers; and they have the mistaken belief that anything smaller is not worth fishing for; when in my view (and many others like me) the opposite is usually true. Not all Carp anglers are like this and there are many thousands of decent intelligent and skillful Carp anglers out there as you know, but there are an increasing number of noddies nowerdays who think that Carp are the only fish that are worth catching. If you asked them to catch a 2lb Roach or a 5lb Chub they wouldn't have a clue and would only know how to chuck a boilee out to try to catch one and if they were lucky enough to catch one with suicidal tendancies then they would drag it in on 10lb line. Their watercraft usually leaves a lot to be desired as well. Dont get me wrong I used to be a Carp fanatic and used to spend every spare minute devising different rigs to overcome various problems and making baits and fishing the Colne valley lakes and Kent lakes trying to catch 20 plus Carp but I started to miss the more active fishing that I used to do and moved back to fishing for Tench and Barbel instead of spending days next to my otponics waiting for Carp to pick up my bait and I forgot how much fun fishing was before I turned to Carp. I still love Carp and still catch the very occasional 20lb plus Carp but because I also fish for other quality fish as well I enjoy my fishing much more and I bet you would if you gave it a chance. There are dozens of well known anglers out there Such as Chris Yates who has caught Carp to over 50lb but has moved on to Barbel as his favorite species instead of Carp and all-round anglers like Martin Bowler and Bob James and many others who are also all-round anglers that can appreciate catching large fish of other species as well as catching large Carp. So why not get yourself a couple of decent through actioned rods and become an all round angler and leave these simple noddies who are annoying you behind to squabble amongst themselves. A 30lb Carp is a giant in anyones book but so is a 3lb Roach or a 7lb Chub or a 12lb Barbel (incidentally Barbel usually fight harder (size for size) than any pot bellied Carp). Or just ignore the noddies and stay with your Carp fishing if you enjoy specialising in a single species, and just ignore the jealous backbiters. Carp are fantastic but catching other specimen fish can often be just as exiting when caught on the correct tackle. Big does not always mean the best. __________________ My Web Site (The Average Coarse Angler) Happiness is Fish Shaped (It used to be woman shaped but the wifes getting on a bit now) |

| Re: goodbye carp fishing!! don't do it, ignore "korda and the gang" and just do what you love doing. those 2 river carp are great catches regardless of where they may or may not have come from. i gave up carping in my twenties and regretted it until i bought some new gear 8yrs later. __________________ If it was easy, it would be called catching.
