Method Feeder Just got back into the game and have had a couple goes at using method feeder on an old carp rod I had. Really enjoy the excitment of using a feeder so am going buy myself a rod fit for purpose, seen the drennan series 7 11ft method which feels good, appreciate any views on it. Has three tips I think, 1,2 and 3 oz, using it on the water I fish on ie, small private max 25/30 yards cast does one use the 3oz tip for this, water has mainly mirrors and commans in mid teens, however been told there is a 25lb plus but not been out for last 2 years!. Will be using 8lb line 10-12,s hook etc, the drennan is a two piece rod which is what I need, any advice much appreciated.

Re: Method Feeder Hello bud. I have a Series 7 11ft Carp Feeder - A superb rod!! Handles big hard fighting carp with ease. The biggest I have had on it so far is just over 10lb but have only had the rod since February - by the the feel of the rod it will handle much bigger without a problem. It is light and responsive and will cover all manner of leger and feeder techniques. The 3oz tip should be used if you are using heavier legers or big feeders and casting a distance but the rod will easily cast out 30 yards with the 1or 2oz tip on it and a standard sized feeder/leger - as long as you team it with a quality reel and good line. I have kept everything Drennan with mine so also bought the matching Series 7 Feeder reel and loaded it with Drennan Double strength line which is made to match the 3 spools perfectly. The reel is really good quality, the same as the rod and when assembled everything is nice and balanced and light too. My advice is buy them - you won't be dissapointed.

Re: Method Feeder No problem. The quivertips rating is something to do with the weight taken to pull the tip round 90 degrees so if you have a 1oz leger on the 1oz tip, it should bend 90 degrees so you use the leger or feeder size that matches or is less than the tip rating. The choice of tip is also used for other reasons too such as, if the fish are very shy biting then you need to put on the lightest tip to see the bites but if you are getting full pull round takes, the heavy tip will be fine.
