New or used

I've got about £100 to spend on a pole. About 13meters would do me..I'll mainley be fishing the canal for silvers or my local lake for the same but can throw up decent tench. Also the odd comercial with my dad.
Has anyone got any recomendations?
Any help would be great. Thanks in advance Wayne

Re: New or used

Hi Wayne.
I got the Daiwa SR1 which is 11 metres and comes with 2 power kits and a match kit. Price at my local tackle shop was £140 but they are £170 in some places. The pole is a good pole and has handled big tench and carp very well although at 11 metres it seems a little heavy so I use it more at 9.5m where it is more responsive. I was originally going to buy the Maver Blue Vega 11m which are £99.99 but was told that they were very heavy and a bit crap - but I have not tried it so its probably OK for the price. I have not seen any 13/14m poles in the £100 bracket - the extra few meters tends to bump up the price of even the cheap ones like Avanti etc. I looked at second hand poles before buying a new one but it seemed all the ones around £100 or in my price range had been cracked and had repairs done to them on certain sections - this put me off a bit.

Re: New or used

Thats what i was a bit aprehensive about Northern Eye, any damage on the used poles. I know £100 is not a lot for a pole but its a lot to me, so i want to spend it wisley. I was actually looking at the Blue vega and im glad i got your input on that. I'm gonna have a nosey on the net for that SR1 and see what happens.
Thanks for your help mate.

Re: New or used

Thats really good - 10 quid cheaper than mine!!! I elasticated mine with the Maver Extreme Hollow elastics and they seem to suit the pole well. 6-9 in the match kit and then 10-13 and 14-17 in the 2 power kits. Biggest fish caught on the pole was a carp around 8lb and it handled it well and was in the net in a flash using the 14-17 kit.

Re: New or used

There are some poles on offer with the Angling times Go fishing shop, not sure what they are like but here's the link:

Re: New or used

Thanks for the link mate. Tbh i'm not sure what i was after myself. I dont know if it applys to tackle but with most things you get what you pay for..But i dont want to be just paying for a name either. Because Northern eye owns a daiwa im inclined to go for that one. But that half price avanti looks a bargain aswell.
Hmm confused.
