Do you prefer Rod or Pole Im loving getting back into angling and i know there are shedloads of anglers out there who prefer one thing or another, but which do you prefer. Im recently getting back into angling and went for the first time the other morning and caught some nice fish on the 7m whip but i couldn"t help think that i wanted another rod and reel so i bought myself one early on today and decided that im a rod and reel guy,the pole is fine but i just prefer the rod n reel. Each to their own i guess. My best mate will be distraught when he finds out im back on the rod and reel.lol. Who cares has long we all catch fish.

Re: Do you prefer Rod or Pole Rod and reel for me. I used to have a pole as a kid and yes it definitely will catch when a rod and reel won't but I just don't enjoy using it and quite frankly would prefer to blank than use one. __________________ I've now added a fishing blog to my website Here

Re: Do you prefer Rod or Pole I like both methods. Only started using pole again a few years back and after upgrading from an 8m to an 11m I have been really enjoying my sessions. It's great when you get into a nice hard fighting carp or tench and I find that, if using the correct elastics, the control and playing of the fish to the net is a doddle!! Equally, using a rod, either floating or legering, is just as pleasurable. Theres been many times when I have had nothing using various tactics on rod and line so have switched to pole and instantly hit into a fish so....as long as I am catching, I'm happy with any method!!

Re: Do you prefer Rod or Pole I'd love to try the pole just to see what the craic is with it. But to be honest it looks like a hell of a lot of work. I've seen people taking 10mins to land a fish because there's so many sections to pull apart!!!

Re: Do you prefer Rod or Pole rod and reel all the way i like the feeling of accomplishment when you get a spot on cast right under a tree or between a reedbed or the perfectly balanced set up that allows you to catch a fish which quite frankly should have snapped your rod in two ,but i have seen these guys with poles they tie on aready made rigs fresh out of a packet and just roll the pole out exactly where they want the hook to go then they take ages pulling sections of when they get a fish on just to rebuild it when they role the pole out again its hardly a skill full method in my books but horses for courses really isnt it . __________________ give a man a fish and feed him for a day ,teach a man to fish and he will be gone for a week fishing is a discipline in the equality of men ,for all men are equal in the eyes of a fish

Re: Do you prefer Rod or Pole My dad and i fished a small commercial a couple of weeks back and we were talking about this. My dad fished a pole and i fished a rod and reel on the next peg. I couldnt keep up with him. For fishing the same almost exact spot and fishing right close to the lillys first time every time, he caught 3 times the fish i did. The only problem was when he did hook into a desent carp it took him straight into a weed bed or snag and ping it was gone. You've always got more control of a bigger fish with a rod and reel. But you'll hook twice as many on the pole. That was our conclusion anyway.
