| Roach and pellets? Have any of you accidently caught Roach whilst targeting say, Barbel and Chub? Its just that I had a lovely 2.5 lb Roach on saturday, caught on a pair of hair rigged 8mm halibut pellets, when I was targeting the above. I have never known Roach to go for them before, especially when rigged up this way, and want to find out if it is a common thing. (Can't yet post photo's here (technophobe) but they are on my blog below) John __________________ Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day, Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime. | Re: Roach and pellets? Yes...I have caught roach on a single hair rigged 10mm High Oil Halibut pellet (Think it was a sonubaits one) when I was on a stillwater near York. That same day I also had them on large hair rigged cubes of luncheon meat, all meant for the resident carp. The roach must have been hungry!! |

| Re: Roach and pellets? Interesting. I think it may just come down to hunger, as we all know that when they want to be, Roach can be finickety eaters. ![]() J __________________ Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day, Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime. | Re: Roach and pellets? Ah, Maddison my young friend, good to see ya again. I agree that it is a very nice surprise, not something that I target any more, my general fishing days are over, but still lovely to see them none the less. I certainly never expected a pellet take though! Maybe, just maybe, it will happen again. Here's hoping aye. | Re: Roach and pellets? So many pellets, of varying sizes, and flavous have been introduced in the last few years, that most fish must now see them as a food source. I read in Iprove Your Coarse Fishing, that silver fish catches are getting very impressive, they've been feeding up on pellets baits intended to get the carp going, not being caught on the bigger boilies, resulting in them growing fast. Even so a 2.5lb roach is a cracker, well done. __________________ Ignore the margins at your peril |
