Fishing from a moving boat...

First post here so firstly hello to everyone on here

I've done abit of course fishing in the past, with float, weights, hook and maggots, but since the good weather has arrived again, I really like the idea of fishing from the back of my old mans boat, wile its moving up the river. It lyes on the river trent, so a very big river and very deep in places (depth finder says 20ft sometimes)

Now I'm not really too clued up on fishing it has to be said. so bare with me, but is there a type of spinner or lure I can use wile the boat is moving in a fresh water river like this that I'll catch anything with?

I seem to remember pike take spinners no? and theres plenty of pike in the trent!

Any advise or ideas would be grate chaps!

Thanks for reading and enjoy your fishing!

In a situation I really like a crankbait (Shad Rap, etc.) or swimbait (like a Savage Gear 4play) swimming behind the boat as if struggling to swim upstream.

Pike, zander, and possibly wels catfish & very large perch and trout will hit these kinds of lures. Then if you travel onto the continent, there's largemouth black bass, asp, and a few other species. These are also quite useful in saltwater for just about anything.

If you intend to fish while on a moving boat you will be `trolling`. You should be able to find out more about that style of fishing on the web. You should make the most of the boat and anchor up in some likely pike haunts, look for over hanging trees on river side, and cast a lure or plug near to these and jig the lure back to the boat. Can help to vary speed at which you retrieve the lure. Try to make lure imitate an injured fish. Good luck
