Surface fishing - what a rush!

Went out fishing today using bread off the surface. It was like no other fishing I have done before. Stalking the carp, casting the bread beyond them and slowly bringing it back to the fish and then watching them take it.

I would never have believed that you could actually feel your heart thumping in your chest as you watch the fish take the bread off the surface and then wait......and strike!

Can you tell I had a fun day today?

Re: Surface fishing - what a rush!

Its one on my favourite methods too especially if the carp are right under your feet on a nice summers day

I had a boilie on the hooklength. Worked as a cheap semi controller float and makes it easier to see the bait.

Re: Surface fishing - what a rush!

I do not have a bubble float so the boilie was a temporary solution. It worked better than I thought it would. But I can see the advantage of a bubble float for casting just that little bit further out.

Re: Surface fishing - what a rush!

Its all i seem to do during the warm summer days/evenings, all i tend to do is use 1 or 2 chum mixer free lined, i soak the night before in a sealed tub half filled with water, when fishing i thread 1 or 2 on and a quick dip in the water and you have good weight to cast and they can stay on for a good while, if not chum mixer a good 1 inch piece of blue warbies pinch on then dipped and away you go

I agree its the best rush in fishing, a lot better than sitting there for hours, surface fishing is a constant buzz as you never know whne a carp will pop up.

Would you believe i have even had a tench of the top once must be hanign with carp for to long, along with chub.
