Re: river severn barbel

Bait with a bait dropper everyday at a certain time, preferably evening and when nobody is likely to be fishing it. Ge a good bed of hemp down each evening and throw a handful of small (8mm) pellets over the top just before you leave. Continue this for a few evenings, but never ever fish. When you can see tha they are feeding confidently take your tackle the next evening - plain lead, hook with 2x8mm pellets on a hair and cast in immediatley. Then introduce a few droppers of hemp, but no pellets - and hopefully you should get a good response. Once you have caught one introduce another dropper of hemp and leave it for a bit for the fish to gain confidence and repeat.
