Also we should all use it every time we see a cormorant.

I hate the things ive just added a spot where ive seen one! Its a marina which isnt actually shown on google maps! Be nice to take an air rifle down for a bit of shot practise! And otters their not quite as bad but ive seen fish washed up at the banks with a bite out of them! They will take a bite out of any fish and just leave it to die! If they wernt protected i would have quite a few warm fluffy hats!!

HERE, HERE!! Posted a sighting on there last week and will do so every time I see one of them evil creatures!! If every angler in the UK shot one then we would quickly get rid of the problem - I am all for protecting wildlife but these birds are destroying our rivers, lakes and our sport unhindered and protected!! Hopefully the site will contribute to finding a solution to this infestation!!!

I agree mate not everyone has a rifle but nearly every fisherman has a slingshot handy, try and get it with a few stones! Im all for wildlife aswell but the loss of one species of bird is ten times better than the loss of dozens of species of fish. Give it a few years and the amounts of fish will seriously drop! Cormorants can eat up to their own bodyweight of fish in a day! On average if a cormorant was to weigh 10 pound it would be eating on average over 20 fish a day! If it was to eat 20 fish per day that would be 7300 fish a year! The number of cormorants is probably within the thousands now! That could mean well over 730,0000 fish are being eaten a year!!

The stats are frightening mate!! And we have to sit helpless and watch this massacre. The birds I spotted on the River Wear in Durham made my blood boil. We were sat in a riverside restuarant and 2 of them were perched on some rocks in the river picking out fish after fish. That city centre stretch of river used to have superb silver fish sport when I was kid, and featured in the Angling press a few times but you never see an angler on there nowadays - I felt like wading into the river and ringing their necks!! Girlfriend wouldn't have been impressed with that one though !!

Im a member of the RSPB.
However i do believe that Anglers have a right to destroy these birds as they can decimate a section of water in a very short space of time,these birds are designed for fishing (much better than us anglers) but clubs spend a hell of a lot of money on their waters and are well within their rights to defend them.
By the way i think Cormorants are lovely birds, yes i am an angler as well.
