certainly is, It is a version of course fishing, Im an all rounder and Ive heard these two sentences one from a carper the other from a matchmen/ pleasure angler.
Carper... "why would you want to sit there all day catching tiddlers ?"
Mathmen/pleasure angler... "why would you want to sit there all day waiting for one fish?"
In my eyes theres nothing to not get on about just two diffrnt target fish and methods

i class myself as an all rounder nothing like catching a 2lb roach or perch to me its an achievement not to be scoffed at but i like to catch double figure carp also ,i know what your trying to say tho carpers always put match men down i was fishing on a small lodge next to a carper and had a maggot feeder on the quiver the first fish out was a decent bream 3lb in size numerous roach a 5lb tench and two double fugure carp he caught nothing just sat there giveing me dirty looks he went to pack up when the last fish out was a small eel i just thought he was petty and small minded .

I think that was probably due to the person rather than him being a carper
