| Re: rivers! 2lb+ River Severn roach would be a cracking fish. I think the 5LB+ chub is more likely though. I'm just planning on getting to know Hampton Loade better this year. Looks like I might just be fishing much longer stretchs this year but avoiding jumping up and down the river. I also want to spend a day in the summer throwing maggots at the place to see what it uncovers. __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk |

| Re: rivers! Id like to get a few double figure barbel from the Trent, also Id like any river carp. Id would also like to find some smaller rivers in the area and target chub and perch with float tactics __________________ Species 2011.. | Re: rivers! 2lb river roach off the severn will be hard to locate, but i think i have the ideal spot to hook it! the chub however i think i'm gonna find harder to locate as the stretch doesnt seem ideal for any barbel for chub, but it's my only 2nd season on the rivers so i'll be lucky to get anuthing decent and @ barbelblanker, u had ne gd fish at loade? i've been looking into it for a while as i'm only down the road from it |

| Re: rivers! A 2lb Roach from my local stream. I nearly cracked it last season with a 1lb 15oz Roach but it would be icing on the cake to break the 2lb barrier, others have had the odd Roach up to the venue record of 2lb 12oz last season but the large Roach are few and far between. Over the last 10 to 15 years a friend and I have had around five 2lb plus Roach from the same stream but that was quite a few miles further down stream where the stream widens and deepens and near to some very large reed beds (my biggest being 2lb 6oz) but I haven't yet had one over the 2lb barrier from the stretch I fish now. My second target is a Barbel of around 12lb or 13lb that several times last season I saw moving up and down the stream teamed up with a similar sized Carp, they both seemed very aware of anything I put in front of them with my hook in it, so I will have to try a different approach this season and if they are still together; just hope that the Carp doesn't take the bait before the Barbel. __________________ My Web Site (The Average Coarse Angler) Happiness is Fish Shaped (It used to be woman shaped but the wifes getting on a bit now) |

| Re: rivers! i agree boldbear, a 2lb river roach is hard to get these days but it's worth the effort to be rewarded with a nice wiley old red fin looked dazed in your landing net |
