| Freshwater Closed season - well for thoughs of you do not know the UK has a closed season were no fishing is allowed ( some water are still open but this is a general rule ) This is so that the fish have time to breed with out getting caught , thus increasing the amount spawned for the next years fishing WHat are your views on a closed season ? My thoughts are that I agree , as it does give the fish the time and a bit of peace to do thier spawning . The two months are no hard ship and it gives me time to sort out my kit and buy somemore So is the closed season a good idea or not - what do you think ?? __________________ Richard|Sea Fishing |Carp Fishing| Spud Gun | Zander fishing | Fishing Reports | Hunting Reports |

Re: Freshwater Closed season Hi, With the way I fish the fish don,t need a closed season The thing is that there is a lot wrong within the sea fishing sport as a whole. The times I have seen fellow fisherman, just leave fish dieing on the shore is countless. When talked about their actions, remarks come back like " who gives a S**T about dog fish" and so on. But the big thing is the commercial over fishing, leaving the fish stocks depleted. I know that it is not just this country that needs to act. Any walk around a france fish market will see 1000,s of small and immature fish for sale. And due to the lack of fish, there are whole fleets of deep sea boats fishing within a mile of the afican coast. Taking time out from rod and line sea fishing will do its bit and I would be all for that, but I am sad to say that so long as commercial fishing is allowed to carry on with will all be blanking Anyway thats my two pence worth. michael

The Close season is a good thing, leave them to spawn and allows for the natural way of keeping stocks at a decent. Howver, I believe some changes are required...vis a vi global warming. Some species of fish are spawning earlier and some later, so from March 15th - June 16th as a close seson is this still an accurate way? I can fly fish for Pike on my local reservoir, whilst Trout fishing during the close season, but not on a river??? Maybe other people have some thoughts on it. ![]()

Re: Freshwater Closed season think the close season is good, could/should one be introduced for sea as well(say nothing in within 2 miles of shore etc) the one thing that has always intreaged me though is why dosent the rod licence run from june 16th as well, because if you renew in april its worthless for 2 months on rivers although i know its required on other fisheries , resevoirs and canals(which dont have a closed season) its a bit like getting a telly licence for a year and only getting 10 months programmes, and radio only for 2 months just a thought dave __________________ www.exmouthsaa.co.uk 24 beers in a case and 24 hours in a day simples You won't know unless you go :D...and if you do go!! please let us know :D as thats how the forum thrives

Re: Freshwater Closed season I agree, the close season is a good thing. I still do fish sometimes (at lakes that are open) during the close season... ![]() __________________ Dan `·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸ Big or small, look after them all! ¸.·´¯`·.¸ ><((((º>
