| Re: River Blackwater. HELP NEEDED! You can't go wrong with 4-inch minnow lures for pike, perch, and brown trout. For the other stuff I'd drown worms. __________________ 2012 species: 13 All-time species: 65 New species caught in 2012: white sucker, popeye shiner, white shiner |

You get skimmer bream at it no problem but I am yet to see a bream over 2lb. Brown trout can be caught on up from the bridge. I haven't seen many perch this year at it to be honest but I'll be going on the hunt for them on Thursday night hopefully. I'm gonna try livebaiting gudgeon/sticklebacks for them. As for the roach. Well to be honest I am sick looking at them. Fishing the blackwater will put you off roach fishing because it is just too damn easy! My favourite way of catching them is on the bottom with a feeder, filled with brown crumb and groundbait. Size 16 hook with double maggot on it. Red/white maggot - it doesnt matter, i use both. The easiest way to catch roach is on the waggler. Simple set up with a size 16 hook, 2 maggots and away you go. Dont worry about casting to the far bank, you will get as many in close as you will anywhere else! Good luck and make sure you take a few pics to put on here and let us know how you get on! ![]() |

| Re: River Blackwater. HELP NEEDED! Was out at it last night... oh dear. It appears the roach may have moved on. We got a few roach/perch but bites were few and far between! |
