Re: making a fishing rod?

Back in the late 70s & early 80s most decent tackle shops near me all sold blanks, corks and rings etc. for making your own rods and I made about 50% of my own rods then.
Theres not much that can compare to catching some decent fish on a rod that you have made yourself.

Try <Guides-n-Blanks> for sourcing and pricing what you need, it also gives ring spacings etc.

Re: making a fishing rod?

one thing to remember every rod blank has a spine ie a top and bottom id have a read on the net as when i build a rod i get the supplier to mark it so i get it bang on and use the two pack varnish its the bis make yourself a jig for holding and turning rod when its drying ,,@ boldbear yea i remeber the shops holding blanks reel seats ect and they were more affordable
