| Re: Fishing the Trent Hi mate I fish the Trent a fair bit, mainly on stretches on the other side of newark. for me to be able to help you with tactics you wil need to tell me what type of fish you wish to target and what tackle you have ? also what are conditions like where you are ie colour, flow, size ect. As for free pegs you should be looking for the "Parish" pegs, these are allocated pegs for the locals not owned by any clubs, there are usually two or three pegs per village/ stretch. the best thing to do to find these is ask around. __________________ Species 2011.. | Re: Fishing the Trent Ther are many ways to fish the trent or other big rivers but I will just tell you what I do (Bearing in mind im still learning myself). If Im fishing for large barbel/carp I use two 2.5 tc rods, two shimano or other bait runner style reels loaded with 12lb line. On this I have a running feeder (varying from 3-6 ounce) to a 3-4 foot hook length made from 10lb flurocarbon. I normally fill the feeder with a mix of small pellets and hemp plugged with groundbait,I mainly use pellet or boilie hook bait but you can use anything you fancy ie luncheon meat, pepperami ect ect. I am going to try using smaller hooks and bait this year to tempt more barbel. also remember to have your rods elevated if the water is fast flowing, this keeps a lot of the line out the water helping your feeder hold bottom. I also feeder fish the Trent with a light maggot or groundbait feeder about 1 to 2 rod lengths out. This method for me has produced some nice bream, chub, perch , and the odd gudgeon. Main thing is to get on the bank and experiment and see what works for you __________________ Species 2011.. Common carp,Mirror carp,Pike,Rudd,Dace,Eel,Bream,Perch,Roach,Barbel, Chub |

| Re: Fishing the Trent Yeah , but it wouldnt stay on the hook for very long, try balling in liquidised bread then trot a piece of bread flake pinched onto the hook, good fro roach, chub, bream, rudd, barbel __________________ Species 2011..
