Re: assistance needed!!

If the fish takes the bait and swims away from you it will cause the line to run across the bite detector and sound the alarm.
If the fish swims toward you however, the line will not runs backwards across the alarm (ever tried pushing string?) so the alarm won't sound.
That's where you need the weight of the bite indicator to force the line back across the detector.

Yep. You've got it in one.
Then clip the indicator onto the line between rings 1 & 2 and take up the slack so that it's suspended off the deck. Make sure that the indicator is clipped on between the reel & the bite detector. If you clip on the other side of the detector (and I've seen it done) you won't get any fall back alarms.
You can adjust how tight the clip holds to the line by twisting the collar just below the clip. When you strike, the indicator will fall away. If you have it too loose, it could slip off inadvertantly.

or you could make your own . knitting needle/bike wheel spoke , fine gauge , biro . paper clip , tape .

cut end off biro, tape paper clip to one end , stick biro on needle , stick needle in ground , stick paperclip over line when you have cast out . if the fish goes away from u it goes up . when it comes towards u it drops
