| why is the river so muddy my local spot was very muddy when i went down there with whit froth/foam and lots of debris color was like tea and i wondering if anyone can awnser why (weather,time of year,etc) Last edited by fishypaul; 02-20-2011 at 04:23 PM. |

| Re: why is the rier so muddy yes mate ,, all the water from all the stream, and ditches will be running into it , give it a week or 2 without rain and it will clear , if you want to fish it use bright baits , look for slack /slow spots |

| Re: why is the river so muddy It does depend on where you live. Down here in the south, Farmers grow Lightly rooted crops like maize, to feed cattle. This has a detrimental effect on the river. After the farmer harvests the maize, the soil is loose enough to rinse off in heavy rain... At the moment local River Associations, are trying to find ways to over come this problem. They have had a laboratory test water samples, to find where the soil comes from. Soil has a type of DNA which can be located. Soils, can carry fertilisers, pesticides and herbicides. These effect weed growth and invertebrate life. Ditches, road drains and other systems, like streams also effect us here, but run off is the biggest cause. Hope that helps... DB&DB |
