Tips for newby in Stroud (Glos.) area Hello all, I am thinking of buying a rod licence for some (more accessible) summer sport in and arroud the Stroud area for myself on the nippers. I'm a complete newby to freshwater stuff and am after some pointers as to where and when to fish, baits, lures, rigs, etc. Thanks in advance. __________________ 2012: None Lifetime: Codling, Grey Gurnard, Mackerel, Pollock, Pouting, Wrasse, Scad.

Re: Tips for newby in Stroud (Glos.) area I would offer u some advice m8, but i know only a very tiny bit more than u but there are plenty of guys on here who will help u out, perhaps try saying what kind of fish u r after or whether u would like to canal, river, lake fish etc more details will make it easier for people to be more specific. Nice to see a fellow county man on here!!

Re: Tips for newby in Stroud (Glos.) area Thanks Ragingbull, Was thinking mostly of trout (i.e. something for the table) but am unsure of the regulations on where to fish, what to take, etc. I've asked the EA directly and am awaiting a reply. Sea fishing is my favoured sport but living in Stroud and the way fuel is going it's becoming an expensive pastime. __________________ 2012: None Lifetime: Codling, Grey Gurnard, Mackerel, Pollock, Pouting, Wrasse, Scad.

Re: Tips for newby in Stroud (Glos.) area I'm a newbie as well but live in the area. As the previous poster said it depends what kind of fish you want to catch, I've never fished for trout so I don't know about that but for carp, Elton carp lakes near Newnham is quite good or you can just try the river Severn, you can get books from you local fishing shop that will have all the best spots in.
