Hi everyone this is my first post on Fishing Forum so I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Tom Madderson, I'm 23 and I've been coarse fishing for a couple of years now. I've always had a strong interest in fishing since childhood, mainly going sea fishing with my dad, but since being introduced to coarse fishing my passion for fishing has grown steadily. I mainly fish day ticket waters in the north east but this year I'm planning to go on a few weekend trips and I'm also planning on trying out some new venues, which leads me to my first question... Does anybody know any good places to fish in the north east of England other than Woodlands and The Oaks in Thirsk? I'm currently studying my final year of Product Design at Northumbria University. I have chosen to re-design a luggage transportation device to help anglers transport their equipment to and from their fishing locations (much like the luggage barrows currently on the market, except this one will aim to be much more compact when collapsed and will have some new, more useful features). I'd like to invite anyone with an interest to fill out a very short questionnaire (10 multiple choice questions) upon the subject of luggage barrows for fishing. The feedback from the questionnaires would help me immensely and it is also an opportunity for keen anglers to have a say regarding features of current designs and areas for improvement. I will be manufacturing this product when designs are complete and I am planning on pitching the product to manufacturers later in the year. I will update the thread as the design process progresses with concept sketches and 3D renderings, if people are interested, to show how the project is developing. I would welcome any feedback you wish to give either via this thread or via the on-line survey and I look forward to hearing from you. Link to on-line survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/5CCHZGQ

Re: Designing a new luggage transportation product... Help needed from those in the k Hi welcome to the forum...I will fill your questionnaire out when I got a spare 10 mins... I think if you can redesign something like this so that it folds away tidier and is made of a more lightweight material you would be on to a winner... Hewy __________________ www.thecarpden.co.uk

| I think you need to decide if you are going to design a normal coarse fishing tackle trolly or a long session carp barrow. Things that are most important to me on either are:

Re: Designing a new luggage transportation product... Help needed from those in the k Hi MaddyT. A luggage trolley should be hardwearing and sturdy yet lightweight. Adjustable handles to cater for tall or short people with comfy non-slip grips. Tyres need to be of the right width and have good grip but not too bouncy so things shake all over the place. As long as it has these features and is also more compact than usual then you cant go wrong. I live in Darlington and there are loads of decent places to fish in the North East apart from Oaks and Woodlands although, these 2 venues are top notch, why not give one of these places a go.... County Durham Angel of the North Lakes, Nr Washington, Durham - 3 Lakes Aldin Grange, Bearpark, Durham - 5 lakes (2 trout/fly) Eden Meadows, Trimdon, Nr Wingate - 3 lakes North Yorks Corn Hill Fishery, East Cowton, Nr Darlington - 2 lakes Green Lane Course Lakes, Scorton, Nr Catterick - 3 lakes Catterick Complex, Catterick Village - 4 lakes & stretch of river Swale Stonebridge, Scruton, Nr Northallerton - 3 lakes (1 trout/fly) There are many more dotted around but the above are all places where I fish regularly and had successful days and you can find directions for most of them on the web. Happy fishing (and trolley building)

Re: Designing a new luggage transportation product... Help needed from those in the k Survey done, all the best with this. Personally I rarely use a trolley or barrow . When I do it's usually because I am "match" style fishing. I've never seen a design that can cope with crossing stiles or narrow , uneven , wooded mud paths either. So I reckon a good innovation is one that can be lifted as a whole. I go through a lot of them kissing gate type things, especially when off to the copse end of hampton loade. __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk
