| Google satellite mapping Does any one use this to recce swims? I think its a great way of looking for potential swims/ locations plus it gived you an idea of access and parking spots before you go fishing. I know its not as good as actually visiting the location before hand but its a great tool if your short on time or just want to get the General gist of a new water or discover other potential waters. For example, Im going fishing on Tuesday , Ive never been to the location but I know where I can park and the best route to the swim and a rough size of the water. | Re: Google satellite mapping I use it for exactly the reasons you've outlined, especially access points. It's also a great way of checking the rivers as most of the satellite stuff is done in the summer (l,ess clouds maybe ??). So you can see the river bed and gravel bars. __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk |

Re: Google satellite mapping I have used it to look at fishing areas. The only problem is that it hasn't been updated since about 2003 so doesn't even show one of our club lakes opened in 2005. That is when google earth was last updated anyhow.

Re: Google satellite mapping The 3D thing they've added is also great for seeing just how flipping steep the path is going to be in Sennen Cove in May :) More cider I reckon :) __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk

Re: Google satellite mapping Use it all the time to find new spots on the river, access points and possible dangers. Also good to print off access roads, saves you valuable fishing time.

Re: Google satellite mapping It's also useful using Google earth to find post codes of fisheries and other places on the map; enabling you to find the post code of a fishery to use on your cars sat nav. __________________ My Web Site (The Average Coarse Angler) Happiness is Fish Shaped (It used to be woman shaped but the wifes getting on a bit now)
