hi all as its quiet( i:e most places frozen, etc), decided to sort out some of my kit and after getting the cotton out again i've decided my pikeing net is starting to be sewn up a few more times than needed, and wondered about re meshing it( or is that being too pikey ![]() ![]() )anyways my 2 questions are 1: the arms are 42 inch long and the front spread is 38 inch so is it a 42 inch or 38inch net for mesh size 2: i remember hearing about some anti hook / treble mesh that was available, but cannot find anywhere( as think thats more what i'm after as use more for pikeing) any advise gladly taken ![]() dave __________________ www.exmouthsaa.co.uk 24 beers in a case and 24 hours in a day simples You won't know unless you go :D...and if you do go!! please let us know :D as thats how the forum thrives

Re: looking for new pike net mesh I just bought myself one of these - http://www.just-fish.co.uk/reviews/k...et-review.html Because I was having a lot of trouble with the 42" net I currently have. Every fish caught means 20 minutes untangling hooks! VERY annoying. So this new net should get rid of that problem!

Re: looking for new pike net mesh i carry a net with me due to my club regulations requiring me to , i have not used the net all winter as i feel much more comfortable lifting them out,it saves any possibility of a treble caught in the net

Re: looking for new pike net mesh Most of the time i dont carry a net either, no need if you are confident enough to chin them. Although if you aren't then it is probably better for you and the pike to use a net. __________________ Blackwater Tackle Supplies Keep Ulster's Waters Healthy, Practice Catch and Release!

Re: looking for new pike net mesh The problem with the canal that Dave (Pingu) and I fish, is that its not always easy to chin the fish, due to the height of the bank above the water etc. There are only a couple of swims where you can safely bend down and reach the water so that you can chin a pike. (See Daves last pike report - the actual bank gave way - and at my age and unsteady feet, lol, I can see myself tumbling head first!!) so unfortunately we have to use landing nets. I use barbless trebles on my all my traces and lures so it is easier to remove the trebles from the net.
