Re: coaching lessions

no idea nick, but suppose it would depend if charging by the hour or session & how long the session is. would you go to the customers choice of water, if so, you'd need to charge to cover travelling costs, or would it be club water, commercial, council run, who pays the cost of the coach fishing (presume the coach may have to pay a charger, even if demonstating)?
quite a few variables to take into account

i may personally barter ... day coaching session in exchange for servicing their car lol

A full day's fishing on a water of their choice , or hourly classes
block bookings for schools etc

is it a viable way of making a living

Re: coaching lessions

i don't see why not nick, but i guess it's like most things, put feelers out 1st, ok, it'll mean spending before you can make anything back.
i did same when i lost my job last year, went to www.vistaprint.co.uk got business cards made up, only cost p&p, same with photo sized flyers. the more you do free (obviously only pay p&p), the more you'll be offered free.
drop them into local angling shops, clubs etc & see what feedback you get.
obviously price would have to reflect the time on the bank & cover travelling costs, insurances, tax etc & for you to live on, but low enough to get the customers.
maybe worth phing around other coaches to get ideas of what they're charging?
i ended up with t-shirt. pen, magnetic stickers for car & loads more, just happened i didn't get anywhere as mobile mechanic (apart from 2 paying jobs & loads of non paying family jobs)

Re: coaching lessions

Ther is a level 2 fishing coach tha goes around schools here and teaches. I thank it's 3 or 4 schools. They also go out on trips to lakes. Maybe that would be worth doing. The council would paye for it and you would be covered under their insurance. You would also be teaching the next generation of anglers the right way to do things.

If your going to coach people of the street sought of to speak then the coaching course would be worth doing so when people read your flyer/business card they will see it's your passion to fish and not someone trying to make a quick buck.

Also what would you be teaching? Game or course?

Re: coaching lessions

If go can stand the little bliters then schools is the way to go.

The coach would teach knot clinic, hook patterns, rigs, fish the lot. The school would also arrange days on a commercial so water craft could be taught. There were also exams that the kiss took and certificates so it was giving alot to the kids and local business. Paul is also teaching more schos next year it's growing huge. Even the local paper is involved.

All this is good expands for the sport and pr for Paul.

Re: coaching lessions

for cricket coaching........ most of my club coaching is done for free
any extra coaching or one to one would look at £20 to £25 per hour
