Bennets of Sheffield. Sad news

Someone told me that Bennets of Sheffield have gone under.
A sad sign of the times

Re: Bennets of Sheffield. Sad news

that is bad news, even though i've not used them, as i try to support my local tackle shop as much as possible, it's not good just for the anglers in & around sheffield, but for the whole of the uk.

i always looked at their adverts in the mags & their prices seemed competitive.
goes to show that a company of any size isn't safe in these times.

i guess people may be finding deals on internet, but sometimes when you've taken p&p into account, it can still be cheaper to drive to your local shop, plus you've got the ability to handle, inspect & compare with similar, plus the advice of the shop staff you don't get with auction sites etc, also if something goes wrong, it's easier to return the goods if got from shops.

remember: support your local tackle shops, once they're gone, you won't get the same service from these online only traders.

Re: Bennets of Sheffield. Sad news

I get emails of all their latest offers and I got one through this morning it didn't mention anything...whether they're trying to get rid of their stock...maybe it's worth giving them a call...

Re: Bennets of Sheffield. Sad news

Hi Everyone;Thats so sad to hear about Bennets.Over the years i have had loads of kit from them.A couple of years ago i'm sure they had problems resulting from some major flooding, that resulted in financial problems due to the loss of stock,it took a while for them to get back to normal.I feel as though part of me is in mourning!.

Re: Bennets of Sheffield. Sad news

It used to be a cracking shop yrs ago before they moved , more family based then ,iam talking early to mid 80,s used to spend hrs in there in those days when in the area

Then they moved had a flood ,( which i don't think they ever got over )
started using the bosfish logo
Crap website ,
finance with massively inflated prices , no surprise really

Never visited the shop myself, but did buy from them, often had some good deals.

Re: Bennets of Sheffield. Sad news

Hi all :)
Duno if anyone's aware of the Bennetts of Sheffield 25% off sale?.....Take a look here:

http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/editoria...ield-sale.html

Posted on 4th Nov 2010.....If you live in, or near Sheffield, could be the place to be on Saturday 13th
Real shame that I live in Norwich, and can't be there

Tight lines ;)

Swifty

PS...Clicked on Bennetts website from the above link, and it states: SORRY BUSINESS AND SHOP NOW CLOSED. So not sure now just how true the post in my link is? ...
