Re: cooking on the bank My days of night fishing are behind me but when I did I used to just make do with soup. When I go now for a days fishing I always take a couple of rounds of sandwiches and a few biscuit type bars and invariably never eat any of them. I don't know what it is but 99% of the time when I'm fishing I'm usually concentrating so much that I don't think about eating and either am not hungry or don't notice that I'm hungry. Pretty much the only time I eat now is if the fishing is dire and/or if it's freezing cold or chucking it down. I think this goes back to when I was fishing as a kid and found that whenever I reached for something to eat I'd get a bite and miss it. It got to the stage that I could joke and say "I fancy catching a fish now", reach for a sandwich but keep one hand on the rod and quite often I'd get that bite and hook the fish. Proof if ever it's needed that fish just sit there watching and waiting for you to loose concentration before finally taking your bait! lol __________________ I've now added a fishing blog to my website Here

Re: cooking on the bank I'm a raw ingredients man! I just go to the fridge and find a pack of ham or chicken and that will be my lunch, to be honest its not the best but it does. My fishing friends when we were out last sunday cooked up some chicken curry and rice, the smell was wafting down the tow-path for miles! I must admit it really put me in the mood to do some proper cooking instead of just eating rubbish! __________________ Blackwater Tackle Supplies Keep Ulster's Waters Healthy, Practice Catch and Release!

Re: cooking on the bank Well, I have pften made up a decent stew for cold weather sessons, meat, usually beef, plus potatoes, carrots, very easy to heat up on the bank, oh, and the stew will always have some decent chilli in there..... Summer time, I may well take garlic burgers to heat up, the garlic fumes, tend to scare away mossies __________________ Ignore the margins at your peril

Re: cooking on the bank Nick, you really cooked that WHILST fishing? Jesus, fair play man! I normally have a few sandwiches made up, few packs of crisps and chocolate bars/sweets. Then a flask of hot water for coffee and/or pot noodles. I hate pot noodles. There's new pot noodle things out now that u just empty into a cup then add hot water, they're not bad actually, my woman picks me them up from sainsburies for me! When i go fishing i have enough sh*t to carry, never mind bringing fresh ingredients for a home or 'bank' made curry dish! lol. But fair play to those who do! This winter i'll be just filling the flask up with soup and the likes. Always a winner along with some buttered allinson brown baps!
