| What To Do With Old Crusts Being a good wife, my other half has been saving all the ends of loaves of bread in the freezer for me. Problem is I don't know what to do with them. So last night I set to on a breadcrumb making mission, and know have 5litres of breadcrumb that I need to find something to do with. Any good recipies for paste bait etc? I was thinking of a dash of flavour (cod liver oil), some smelly cheese & mix until it formed a kind of paste? |

QUOTE] i would go for something like this Ingredients 1 Pound fresh perch fillets 1/2 Cup dried bread crumbs 1 Tablespoon butter 1/4 Cup milk 1/2 Teaspoon Thyme 2 Tablespoons parmesan cheese Combine the bread crumbs, cheese and thyme on a plate. Dip the perch fillets in the milk and roll in the bread crumb mix. Lay the perch in a single layer on a greased baking pan. Drizzle melted butter on the fish. Bake in the oven at 400 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes or until the perch flakes easily with a fork. |

| Re: What To Do With Old Crusts I think I may have posted this before on here but one of the best groundbait recipes I've ever used was this: Bread crumb (I tend to use a mix of brown and white but find that brown tends to cloud better) Crushed hemp (about a 1/4 of the volume of bread crumb Trout pellets blitzed finely in a blender so that it's almost a powder (again about a 1/4 of the volume of bread crumb) More small trout pellets around 2mm This forms the base mix of my groundbait If I'm fishing for Chub then I add a bit of Parmasan cheese very finely grated. Really you are just aiming to get the smell without making it too pasty. Being a hard cheese it doesnt get too pasty anyway. If I'm going for Carp, Barble or similar species than I'd add some crushed Meat Dog/Cat biscuits For Bream I'd add dried bloodworm As for flavourings these vary greatly from using spices for Carp & Tench to Almond essence for Roach (don't ask me why but Roach seem to go nuts for Almonds!) and of course fishy flavourings like Halibut and I've even used Fish Sauce which you need to use is small quantities because it smells disgusting but leaches into the water beautifully and Carp especially seem to like it but I would only use that in the summer months. __________________ I've now added a fishing blog to my website Here |
