When I first started it mate I just used my spinning rod, as long as you have your line tight you will notice bites when your rod starts wobbling!

Re: can i ledger without a quiver tip or bit alarm

sorry lads bout all the questions some people here havent long answered my last question about winter fishing, but how would i set a basic one up i presume hier rig, swivel, running feeder or arlesley bomb then set up my bank sticks and bobins, then would i switch on the free spool switch on the bait runner reel and reduce drag so its easy to run off with the line?

Re: can i ledger without a quiver tip or bit alarm

the lake i use has silvers, small bream ( skimmers i think) and carp up to 15lbs i preferer the carp as the others are too small and just tend to give in and no sport, but aslong as something fishy jumps onto my hook i really dont mind i just love fishing, my wife is allready threatening divorce and its only been every other sunday since about august.

Nick R thanks didnt see the link should be a great help.
