| Hand Warmers My son suffers from very cold hands when winter fishing. I have been looking at a couple of handwarmers on various websites. Are the solid fuel pocket/handwarmers any good? Most appear to be about 3.99/4.99 approx. I see Shakespeare sell their own brand of hand warmers, with the charcoal stick, and was thinking of getting a couple. Zippo do a fuel hand warmer which uses liquid fuel, but they are a lot more expensive at about 18 pounds, and some reports say that you actually need a zippo lighter to get the blooming things going as they are so difficult to light. Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks |

| Re: Hand Warmers Thanks Boo3. Blacks, the outdoor shop were having a sale just before Xmas, so I bought 2 Gelert hand warmers for half price (they use the charcoal stick) so hopefully they should do the job (If I ever manage to get out fishing in the next month or so). Cheers. Baz |

| Re: Hand Warmers Hi SandM, You are right, he is half english, ha ha, - its the english half that feels the cold I think. I recently got some neoprene gloves too, which seem to be nice n snug, so he will try them next time we go. Hi Nick, Thanks for the link - they look good. I might just stick them down my underpants if it gets really cold!!! |

| Re: Hand Warmers I got a couple of the hand warmers that are activated by flexing a metal disk that sets of some sort of chemical reaction. They heat up really quickly and give of a lovely heat. The only problem is it only lasts about an hour. You can recharge them by boiling them in a pan of water for 10 minutes and they are ready to go again. I picked a pair up for £5. The charcoal ones hardly give off any heat and I would not recommend them. My Brother got a Zippo pair for Christmas and he says that they are the dogs dangley bits. They are more pricey, but give of a lovely heat for hours. | Re: Hand Warmers Hi, Might I suggest the Peacock Warmer. Although a little more expensive than the others mentioned, they will last a good 8 hours on one filling. I've had mine now (2) for well over 15 years and they are working just as well now as from when I first bought them. | Re: Hand Warmers I agree with portland Pete about the charcoal handwarmers. I spent more time with the case open blowing mine to keep it burning than warming me hands on it. |
