Is it worth buying an older Delkim?

I am not a 'Carp Angler' in that I don't exclusively target Carp, nor do I sit behind a battery of rods all on bite alarms for 24/48hrs at a time. If you had to put a badge on me I would say that I am a Pleasure Bigger Fish Angler in that I fish purely for pleasure and only for 12hrs at a time and whilst I do often target Carp I also frequently fish for Tench, Barble, Pike and larger Chub & Bream.

I do have two Carp rods and two Shimano Baitrunners but 99% of the time I only set up one Carp rod on a bite alarm and then float fish on another rod. This is largely because I find sitting behind two rods waiting for a run to be boring but also because I find invariably catch more on the float than I do on the ledger.

However occasionally, especially in the colder months, I find the float becomes less and less effective and so do swap over to the second Carp rod. The problem here is that I only have one bite alarm (currently I just use a bobbin on the 2nd rod) but would like to get a second one. The alarm I currently use is a Fox Micron M2 which although is a basic alarm (magnetic wheel with just tone and volume controls) I really can't fault it. It does all I need and I catch plenty so I was all set to buy another of these. However the M2 costs around £35 (my local shop doesn't stock it so I'd have to buy online which would then add a bit more for postage so call it £40) but I've been offered an older Delkim for just £30 through a friend of a friend. Is it worth buying the Delkim?

It's not one of the current range, it's one of the original ones like this http://www.tacklefanatics.co.uk/item...000-alarm.html So it's got more features than the M2 and it's cheaper than the M2 but it's a fair bit older (although it is in very good nick and fully working). Ultimately I'm just looking for a second alarm that will only get used occasionally and presume that the Delkim would be 'better' than the M2 in which case that would become my main alarm with the M2 being only used occasionally. If however the older Delkims aren't as good as the M2 then the M2 would remain my main alarm but I'd like something 'as good' as the M2.

Is it a good buy or should it be goodbye?

Cheers Nick, the one I linked to isn't the actual one I'd be buying - I just added the link so people knew what model I'm talking about. I've been offered it for £30.
