general questions

hi all,

as fishing is quite a one man and his dog sport, there is never anyone about to ask questions when i have one. So i have saved up a few if anyone would care to answer.

1. When I am using boilies as bait, does it matter if i use big ones or small ones.

2. does any particular flavour work better than the others

3. I made a ground bait today of hemp powder, corn, hallibut pellets and broken boilies. how often should i be chucking out a handful of it.

4. how do you know what size your hooks are and what is best for carp, bream, barble etc

5. do i have to use a hair rig for carp or should i just use a medium hook with say, peperami on it..

6. i could see that most of the time my hairrig, boilie or peperami was being tugged at, some times quite hard but i hardly ever got a fish...why would that be..

all basic questions i am sure, but i hav'nt a clue.

thanks to those who answer.

Re: general questions

1. When I am using boilies as bait, does it matter if i use big ones or small ones.
For tench i use 10mm for carp as a norm i use 15mm in this country some times 18/20
In France /Spain i have used 50mm

2. does any particular flavour work better than the others For me its pineapple

3. I made a ground bait today of hemp powder, corn, hallibut pellets and broken boilies. how often should i be chucking out a handful of it.
Put some in on seting up , then top up every 3rd cast if not catching , if the fish are on the munch and your catching , every cast

4. how do you know what size your hooks are and what is best for carp, bream, barble etc

hook size

5. do i have to use a hair rig for carp or should i just use a medium hook with say, peperami on it..

you dont need to use a hair mate , you can still side hook

6. i could see that most of the time my hairrig, boilie or peperami was being tugged at, some times quite hard but i hardly ever got a fish...why would that be..

hair to long / bait too big . hook link too long /hook to big , never found this when carping
