| i need to know how to catch obscure fish My lifetime goal is to catch every species of freshwater fish in new york state ,which means weird things like fallfish and quillback. Needless to say i have no idea how to do this. I would appreciate any techniques for catching these that you might know. Also, i'm having trouble getting a carp, so if you have any techniques that allow me to catch lots of small carp from shore, id love to hear them. Mostly the obscure fish though. |

| Re: i need to know how to catch obscure fish Sure. there are a lot of weird miscellaneous fish like quillback that i need to catch. also shortnose sturgeon and lake sturgeon are a goal. burbot and bowfin each can be and are regularly caught in and around the great lakes, so anything you can supply is great. river herring of any type are currently posing a challenge for me, and some suggestions on mirror and grass carp would be great. Also i am totally lost when it comes to gar. any other weird obscure fish that you know of would be great as well. |

| Re: i need to know how to catch obscure fish I am not familiar with these species as I have never fished outside the uk so I cannot be specific, but what I would say is firstly try and find out your target fish habits, including location, time of day and feeding patterns ect. you can do this by simply fishing at different times of the day with a good variety of baits, also try and seek out some local knowledge from anglers who know the waters as Im sure they will know all the tips and techniques. __________________ Species 2011.. | Re: i need to know how to catch obscure fish Baisley Pond Baisley Pond in Baisley Pond Park, Jamaica, Queens may not be known for its great largemouth bass fishing, but our fish survey information suggests it should be. Patches of lily pads offer excellent cover for both predators and prey and add to the verdant landscape of the park. This lake has the potential to offer anglers an exciting fishing experience while providing a peaceful day out.
