The Rod: SHAKESPEARE OMNI 11FT MATCH ROD
Although a little short for me it would fine for close to medium range float fishing. Shakespeare do make some nice rods.

The recommended hook length is in the 1lb-4lb range so although it should be able to cope with fish up to around 7lb to 8lb max I'm not so sure about fish over this sort of weight especially if there are any snags about.
The maximum recommended reel line figures are usually a bit on the safe side though so it might be possible to up the hooklength to around 5lb.

The Reel: MITCHELL AVOCET GOLD MK II
The MITCHELL AVOCET GOLD MK II also looks OK especially if you need to use 6lb reel line on a commercial.
I would probably choose the MITCHELL AVOCET SILIVER MK II with the shallow spool for casting a float with 3lb to 5lb max reel line especially if the recomended hooklengths for the rod are 1lb to 4lb, however as you might want to use a 6lb main line then the MITCHELL AVOCET GOLD MK II should be fine.

Anyway Welcome to the forum and hope you catch lots of good fish on whatever rod & reel you buy.
