| Conflicting views in fishing? I had a slow period at work so I started thinking (always a dangerous thing to do for me I often see forum posts where the person is asking a question such as what are the best methods to catch Chub or Barbel in a small river or Stream?. And you can get totally conflicting answers from different people living all across the country; to the extent that occasionally some people even start to get a bit narked when someone expresses a totally different view to themselves (but not normally in this forum). But if you think about an average Stream or River; it may wander through totally different environments during its complete length, not only because it may change in width and depth but also because it may pass through beds of rocks, chalk, sand, clay and silt during its journey and the water acidity could also vary from one area to the next; The fish in the stream or river may react and feed in totally different ways as it wanders through its length, even more so if it wanders through towns and other built up areas on its way. When it wanders over silt the fish would most likely feed in different ways to when it wandered across gravel or sand and the plant types and weed growth could also differ dramatically from area to area together with the different insects species that may live in the watery environment. So getting totally different views to such a question is not always as strange as you might think. | Re: Conflicting views in fishing? Very true words. Also the weather conditions on the day can change what techniques work. I think so many factors affect fishing that we cannot extract the science of it and have to rely on gut feelings and a bit of luck too. I have heard so many different theories, I just wonder if it is all an excuse for blanking?? __________________ Life is understood looking backwards, but it must be lived forwards. |

| Re: Conflicting views in fishing? Yes I agree. There is never a simple answer to most fishing quanderies the answers always seem to rest on a combination of things and there is rarely just one simple answer. That is why I find fishing so enjoyable and absorbing. __________________ My Web Site (The Average Coarse Angler) Happiness is Fish Shaped (It used to be woman shaped but the wifes getting on a bit now) |

| Re: Conflicting views in fishing? Totally agree there ,when I answer posts on species advice or how to catch fish from certain bodies of water , the opening line is nearly always, "It depends on the conditions but ....". __________________ Species 2011..
