Re: holiday fish

Yes you need a rod licence even if you are fishing in your back garden, it's a 'Rod Licence''' and not a 'fishing licence' and it entitles you to use a 'rod. hook and line'.

Anyone over the age of 12 fishing in freshwater in England and Wales must have a valid rod licence; even if the water is in your back garden or on other private land.

you can buy your rod licence on line < here > and you then print out your receipt with your licence number on it and you can then use your receipt as proof that you have bought one (until you receive the licence through the post). I am not sure if they send you one if it is a 'one day' licence but at least you have your licence number to show the bailifs if they comes round, so can go fishing.

Re: holiday fish

you could always get yourself the anglers mail which has a rod licence in there for a day as part of fishing month as long as your with someone that has a licence.
and if you get hooked you can purchase one and if you dont you have not lost anything
