Boat fishing info

Hi all, i have decided to get my self a wee boat around 14 foot max for pottering around lakes ( also inshore down north wales ) doing a bit of fishing for what ever comes along as not picky, just want to fish, i have fished for years for all types of our freshwater fish so have a good idea in how to catch them.
BUT i have never been fishing of a boat before for them so i could do with a bit of info of whrere to go and what to go for etc. Also do lakes have certain regs on what type of boats they allow. I would love to do some over nighters on the boat too.
