Hi Jeebak, welcome aboard!

I've not heard of them before. Have you ever caught a big one?

Re: Anybody ever heard of a fish called Mahseeer

Hi Simon

I live in New Delhi and started angling four years back, i finally caught my first mahseer it was 8.5 kilos this year and took me about half an hour to land. We fish in this huge reservoir lake created by India's biggest Dam- the Bhakra Nangal.
This fish has been held in great regard by anglers since the days of the Raj in India. It has a huge head which gives it an uncanny strength and is quite intelligent.Mostly caught on spoons and occassionally on rattlin rappalas.

Regards
Jeebak

Re: Anybody ever heard of a fish called Mahseeer

That sounded like a very nice fish!

We have conger eels here that grow up to 30Kg from shore and 45+Kg from boats. They can swim as fast backwards as they can forwards and are a real fight to keep from swimming into rocks. I'm hoping this year to catch a really nice one
