TENCH and taste buds?

Recently I have renewed my interested in fishing and my local lake contains some good tench. I have read a few articles on the art of catching tench and the local tackle shop (in France) has plenty of 'tasty' attractors (at a price). I am using sweet corn and with all the fish activity around I'm not doing very well. I would be interested to know what the thinking and facts are about tench and fish generally being able to taste and react to different flavoured attractors. Andrew a.kennedy@aliceadsl.fr
