Beeston Lake Neatishead Norfolk

Hello to Everyone. New member and have enjoyed reading some of the threads on the site. Learning loads.

I was just wondering if anyone knows if you are aloud to fish Beeston Lake in Neatishead, Norfolk anymore. Used to fish there years ago and then heard it was closed. Used to have some pretty big tench in there and stories of a couple of good carp. If anyone knows anything about the place would be good to hear from you.

Cheers

Re: Beeston Lake Neatishead Norfolk

Hello kieronk...New here too, in fact was searching Google for info on Beeston Lake, and came across your post :)

I live in Norwich, and around 25 years ago (god that sounds a long time) was a regular to Beeston Lake, just for the fantastic pike fishing in the winter months, had many high double fish, and many many hours of enjoyment at Beeston.....My PB pike is a 32lb 6oz beauty, caught at the dam end at Beeston in the late 80's....
Back then (mid to late 80's) I only ever met a guy called Colin, (don't know his surname) he was a very friendly water bailiff/and groundsman, that took your £5 for a days fishing, and stayed for hours chatting away about how to fish and where, he seemed to have a wealth of information about Beeston and the fish that were in there (very large Tench/Bream too, as well as Pike up to 44lbs (I believe that was the record caught there...I remember Colin saying "Yer now wot boiy? Bet there's a 50 in there! Coz I seen er".

In mid 90's hung up my pike gear, took up hunting for Carp, had a bad traffic accident in 2000, that stopped me fishing full STOP.
Now I wish to go back to my Pike, and in particular Beeston Lake.....But like you, don't know if it's open/closed....or even still there?....
So any new info on Beeston Lake would be greatly appreciated ......Maybe kieronk; we could meet up there one day for a

Cya soon... Cheers

Re: Beeston Lake Neatishead Norfolk

Hi
Thanks for the info headless.

Swifty good to hear from you. Never knew the pike went so big in there. I fished beeston 93-97 had some really good tench out of the swims round the other side from the dam. Had a mate who fished it loads and saw a couple of really good carp. Have you given that number a call yet? If not i'm gonna call and hopefully get after those pike over the winter.

Cheers
Kieron

Hi Kieronk,
Nice you came back :) Been three months with your first post, was not sure if you were still around. ;) You can try the number if you like m8...I have tried a number of times, it just keeps ringing, maybe they are away or something???....But will keep trying.
Be great if the old place is still open....Might even be able to take some time out and have a look (that's if I can remember the route)....I'll keep you posted m8 :)

Nice to meet you :) Take care....

Re: Beeston Lake Neatishead Norfolk

Hi all.. :) I kept trying Beeston lake by phone.."RING-RING-RING....but nobody comes....So decided to take a trip to find it...My memory served me well, I managed to go to, well, I am sure was, where Beeston lake was meant to be..No signs up at the gate, which were shut and locked Asked at local PO, but they could offer very little in the way of info....Bit of a Beeston mystery this one? "Elementary my dear Watson" shall continue to solve this one that's for sure...I don't give in THAT easy :)....will keep you posted :)

Cheers...
