| Re: Best ways to use lunchen meat ? Depands on the brand you use spam and lidis bacon grill are good. There are a few ways to use it on the hair with meat stops or they do a meat coil you screw into the meet. You can lightly fry it to make it stay on the hook better. |

| Re: Best ways to use lunchen meat ? I like to put a chunk in a pellet band so it sits just below the hook , the band holds the meat very securely so you don't lose it on the cast or even to small nuisance fish. You'll need a little pellet band tool to open the band up & get it round the meat (they cost about a fiver). I've had a lot of success with this method for carp , chub, tench & barbel & it helps to prevent me sitting wondering why I'm not getting bites on a unbaited hook . |

| Re: Best ways to use lunchen meat ? I Use Iidis Bacon Grill, Its Firmer Than Luncheon Meat. I Cut It Up Into About 4mm Cubes When Using The Waggler Or Pole. But I Also Use It To Target Carp, So It Can Be Hair Rigged Too, I Just Use Large Hair Stop. Ive Never Got On The Meat Stops, They Pull Though Just Like Cheap Small Hair Stops. |

| Re: Best ways to use lunchen meat ? When using luncheon meat, I cut into cubes of about 1/2 inch, push the hook (usually size 8) through so the top bend is poking through the cube, then slide a piece of grass through. Pull gently so the grass is trapped between the cube and hook bend. I find freelining gives best results but be careful with the cast, a gentle swing does the trick. I use optonics bite detectors, bail arm open with a well loaded spool to reduce any tension on the line. Hope this helps Cheers Doug __________________ I found this beautiful winter poem and thought it might be a comfort to you. hope that you enjoy it too. | Re: Best ways to use lunchen meat ? I mount mine directly onto the hook with the point sticking proud (see picture below). If I need to cast further than about 7 mtrs I put a piece of grass through the bend like doug mentioned. I do occasionally use a hair with a meat stop and a short piece of Biro tube to prevent the hair cutting through the meat. ![]() NB. Just after I took the above picture I cast the meat into my swim and had a Barbel take it almost before it touched bottom, I must have cast the meat right in front of its nose without spooking it and before I could even put the rod in its rest. __________________ My Web Site (The Average Coarse Angler) Happiness is Fish Shaped (It used to be woman shaped but the wifes getting on a bit now) |
