Hydropower & Fisheries - what does it mean for me?

Whether you are an angler, a fishery manager, an amateur naturalist or just have a general interest in the health and wellbeing of Britain’s rivers, you need to understand the finer details of low head hydropower, as the recent rush for renewable energy makes it a fair bet that there is one proposed for a river near you.
So what will it mean for you? Will it completely change the river that you know and love, or will you barely notice it? Will it mince ever fish that passes through it, or will it be relatively benign? What differentiates a good hydro scheme from a bad one, and how much energy do they actually produce? The answers to these and many other similar questions will be revealed to those who attend the institute of fisheries management (www.ifm.org.uk) organised event at torrs hydro on Saturday the 15th may.
