When can I fish for trout with normal licence On the standard rod licence it says you can fish for non-migratory trout, so does that mean I can fish on the river (local river is The Severn - Severn Trent area) for trout in the coarse closed season, i.e. now? Cheers

Re: When can I fish for trout with normal licence Non-migratory trout means just that. Native brown trout and Rainbows. A game licence is required if you are fishing for sea trout and salmon in rivers, estuaries and up to 6 miles offshore __________________ I am in shape. ROUND is a shape!

Re: When can I fish for trout with normal licence Cheers for the replies, I looked on the official site but couldn't see anything about it. Also I wouldn't be fishing for sea-trout or salmon but natural browns. Anyone else? Thanks

Re: When can I fish for trout with normal licence there is no coarse fishing on rivers in the closed season, only fly fishing, and if I am correct, isn't a game licence required to fly fish? so your licence does not allow you to coarse fish ( hook and bait or lure) for anything in closed season unless it is a still water and some canals, ( check local rules , some lakes observe the closed season too ). the open season your coarse licence allows you to target brown trout and all other coarse fish. The game licence allows you to target salmon and sea trout (migratory). I am just not sure what licence is required for fly fishing, but I am sure some one here will clarify that. __________________ Life is understood looking backwards, but it must be lived forwards.

| Re: When can I fish for trout with normal licence The wilderness lakes I am currently fishing for brown trout have an open season of 15th March-12th October. I can use any legal method, ie fly, worm, spinning, bait etc. There are general closed seasons on most waters for certain species. It's best to check for local variations. A local tackle shop will be in the know. Fly fishing can be a great way to try and catch most species and is not restricted as such Again, a game licence is only required for migratory species such as salmon and sea trout __________________ I am in shape.
