Another confidence blow

Just had my 6th blank in a row now and Im starting to get worried (and pi**ed off), I went lincs show-ground lake for about 08:00 and put two rods out ,one with a bubble float and bread crust on top and one on the bottom with a 15mm pop_up boilie with a few free offerings. After seeing a fair few fish taking off the surface my confidence was high , but by lunch time I had not had a bite but others on the lake were pulling in a fair few fish using floating bread/ dog biscuits. By 2pm I decided to scale down and fish sweetcorn on a 1oz lead to try and tempt the smaller carp or even a bream but still no joy. I ended up giving up about 16:30. I am fairly new to carping but my set up seems fine.
My previous blanks were piking on the ancholme and twice on the trent looking for barbel/ carp and last week at richmond lakes (carp). I hope its just bad luck because I personally thought my fishing skills had improved loads in the last two years.

Re: Another confidence blow

Wouldnt worry about it every single angler on this forum has had more blanks than they let on, including me. I know one guy probably one of the best shore anglers i know and a damn good boat angler blanked 5 shore comps in a row, he was going to sell everything, then started catching fish again. I remember blanking a charity fly day on the fly for rainbows(charity was for the RNLI) £100 per head, i didnt fish the place for over 2 years, i turned up late last year to the same place and had 6 fish for 52lb i think something like that, anyway put it behind you take a few days off from thinking about it. Think of the fish you did and have caught, that works for me. Tight lines. Next time you will catch i know you will.

Re: Another confidence blow

unlucky mate, dont think its your fault you blanked coz ive been to linc show ground lake and i would of used exactly the same tactics you did.
if your sick of being waterlicked then go to blyton ponds and do some floating bread at tea time and you will definetly catch,

Re: Another confidence blow

If you aren't blanking , you aren't learning and you don't get hungry to catch. I think a lot of "modern" anglers who think that over stocked carp pools where you do not blank are fishing pools are deluded. Each to their own I guess, personally I get a great deal of satisfaction in working for a great result. Oh I blanked on a bl@@dy canal after anything earlier. Learnt that leaving my landing net behind ruins my concentration.

Re: Another confidence blow

They say that there is no such thing as a blank; as all time spent on a water can be time spent learning, even if it is learning why the fish don't want to pickup your bait. or perhaps learning that you should have stayed in bed in similar conditions.
