Thumbs down Crap Fishing Holiday

First ello all, Just got back off my 4 night holiday at Billing Aquadrome. Now I dont class myself as a pro fisherman but I bag between 90 to 300 in one day at my local lake. Now Billing's website says that "offering no less than NINE lakes and further waterways throughout the park" and that "The lakes are generously and frequently stocked".
Sounds good yeah? I spent a few hrs walking round talking to other fishermen, I found a few lads who had been there 2 weeks and only caught "1 bloody FISH!", but any way, undeterred I found the best lake (Kingfisher), and I spent 12hrs and NOT 1 BITE nothing, both my son and I was there all day 4 rods 6 different baits. I spend 3 days trying different lakes and not one BITE. There is a lil river running through the site, so after no luck again I decided to go after the pike with some mackerel and a few lures, after walking the river I got a lovely 20+ pike on and the bugger came off right by my feet, couldn't believe it.

So all in all I landed 0 fish, what a waste of time and money.
Verdict, in my view marks out of 10, it gets a surprising 0. Anyone else been there, and had better luck?

Re: Crap Fishing Holiday

i can only assume you was carp fishing at billing as it has had a policy for as long as i can remember of not stocking carp and instead leaving the original residents to gain weight. it has never been a prolific fishery for carp and has always presented a challenge to those that target her residents.

i may be wrong with regards the above as i haven't heard anything for a few years as i gave up carp fishing in the uk preferring instead to concentrate on my match and sea fishing

but from the sounds of the tales of the other anglers round the lake 1 fish in 2 weeks between 3 anglers it doesn't sound like the carp stocking policy has changed

Re: Crap Fishing Holiday

I wasn't carp fishing bud, but after a few hrs without a bite I tried everything in the book, it got to the point where I would have used a hand grenade just to see if there was any fish in there at all.

I was told that the lakes was netted not so long ago, to remove all the carp and to put them all in the biggest lake they had there.

Not much fun, I paid £300+ just to go there for the fishing, BUT NOT 1 BITE in 6 lakes, so guess you could say I was a little p*ssed...
