Fish or Fruit ?? I've heard a few theories that say you should use oily fish-meal type boileys in summer and fruity/ sweet boileys in winter. Do these theories hold any water (no pun intended) or does it not make any difference. I'm going for a 48 hour session next week and want the best possible chance of catching. I'm quite new to carping so I haven't got the experience to say either way Many thanks , hope to hear a reply

Re: Fish or Fruit ?? Generally fruity stuff in the winter and oily in the summer, purely because at water temperatures much below 10 C the Carp cannot digest oil. But like all things in fishing there are not hard and fast rules, I often use a pineapple boillie if the carp aren't really feeding hard, and I think it is more the confidence it gives the angler rather than what actually works. I still rate real corn and a fake one, seems to work everywhere. __________________ Life is understood looking backwards, but it must be lived forwards.

Re: Fish or Fruit ?? Fish meals are not digested very well in winter , carp are normally on the naturals as well then , If it was me i would go for a banana or pineapple flavour hi viz ,either pop up or play around with the zig as the fish will hopefully be coming up in the water

Re: Fish or Fruit ?? I am no expert but I was under the impression that the sweet/fruity baits produced more Carp during for summer and that the oily fish meal baits (pellets) were to avoided in the winter as the Carp can not digest the high oil content of the pellets/boilies in the cooler water temperatures Darrell Darrell

Re: Fish or Fruit ?? One more thing, will halibut pellets be ok to use as PVA fillers, or will I be best crushing boilies/ using particles

Re: Fish or Fruit ?? I would just use crushed boilies at the minute
