Re: i need a new float reel but dont know what to get...help?

As far as im aware ive never seen a reel specifically designed for float fishing so i would suggest the only important criteria would be how good a reel you can find for your cash mate. I remember when i used to fish the lakes in Germany i used a shorter 9ft swing tip rod for bottom fishing and a 12ft rod for float fishing but always used the same reels.
spinning reels and specialist reels for carping are different due to line capacity and the amount of bearings but float fishing puts less strain on a reel than i reckon any other type of fishing ( even when trotting the float ).
Im sure some of the other lads n lasses will tell you their preferences or what to avoid :)

Okuma's epix pro is a great reel, if I'm not using a centrepin I'll use my epr30m for all my float And light ledgering work . Comes with three spools which is nice . you should be able to find one for £40.
