| Knowledge Required Hi all, I am just after a book which really shows you all you need to know about Coarse fishing, from how to tie, paternoster, helicopter, the method explained etc etc, all i have ever done is float fish with the line straight through and have finally decided i should really try and learn some new ways of fishing( My 15 yr old son is also showing interest atm and he will pick up these things much quicker than me and i don't want to be left behind) So a general book that explains things in easy terms without getting too complicated would be much appreciated(Also a reason why i haven't turned up to any days out with you guys so far due to embarrassment ) ![]() |

To a man (or woman) I have found folks on this forum to be the most generous with advice and experience. Especially on the riverbank or boat. Run what ya brung and fine tune from there mate. Turn up and enjoy __________________ I am in shape. ROUND is a shape! |

| Re: Knowledge Required When I started fishing 3 years ago I knew nothing ( some say I still don't). But I found the best book was the forum. I have asked questions, some very stupid, and always had some help or advice. I have gone on trips and met some of the guys here, and they have all been helpful and willing to show me the bits I need. My first sea fishing trip, in the pouring rain at Sidmouth, had Greenheart on a blustery beach showing me the knot for a shock leader, and he did not complain when I cast across his lines and lost his rigs. This forum and it's members has taught me all I know and I am sure if you want any info one of us will either know it or direct you to a page on the net where you can find it. __________________ Life is understood looking backwards, but it must be lived forwards. |

| Re: Knowledge Required yes that mag still published but most of its contents is trying to persuade the reader to part with cash. Raging Bull is looking for inpartial honest advice! They should rename that mag "Improve your overdraft"! |

| Re: Knowledge Required Lol....Improve your overdraft, I like that coz its true.Top marks for that. As for gaining experience, come along with the guys on here who are always happy to help. Everybody has been in the same position when they first started off. Im not a massive expert and have only ever used 2 knots and only use about 4 different rigs when fishing for carp because I dont see any point over complicating things because you end up with more problems.
