might sound a bit stupid but how do you see how deep the water is

on your line mark out 1 metter then 2 etc with some string cast out with a lead on and see how far down it goes

Try useing a polaris float,they come in different sizes ,and,they will find the depth for you, I also use them with a swimfeeder,Tightlines
