Re: Good Set up for a beginner?

It looks a good deal, obviously its going to be bottom of the range tackle but for a starter kit it will do untill you can afford better tackle,

If you can afford to pay a bit more for a known/recommended brand I would pay a bit more, the tackle will last longer and the action of the rod and workings of the reel will be better

Re: Good Set up for a beginner?

For £20.00 seems ok, I cant see the link whilst at work. Ron Thompson rods are ok, but they can be a bit on the lower scale of the market. however, they are robust.

Hope this helps

Re: Good Set up for a beginner?

I use rt carp rods and have had no problems with them. Sounds good for a starter kit.

Re: Good Set up for a beginner?

with all fishing tackle divide the rrp by three and thats what they are reall worth. Ron thompson are not the best rods but not the worst either. Remember that fishing rods and reels these days are far cheaper to make than in the old days. The two items are worth the buy it now price and postage but no more than that in monetry value. However if you do well with them and enjoy hours and hours of good sport they are priceless!
Always try to buy the best quality that you can afford.
